Paintings Mixed Media Glass
*“Art gives me a canvas to create and scream onto. Allowing me
to express feelings with the bold grace and rhythm of color.”*

Choosing a single medium to work with has been impossible because I love the freedom of learning and mixing different art forms. As a Denver Public School art teacher, my inspiration comes from the hundreds of students that I have taught. It is their willingness to experiment and to try their hand at all kinds of art forms that has lead me to the mediums that I use. My work is a combination of painting, drawing, collage, and glass fusion.

This current series of work is a combination of mosaics and mixed media collages. Experimenting with different materials and learning how to successfully combine these mediums is my challenge. Most of the mixed media collages are created on kitchen cabinet doors, which lend to the depth and framing of the work. The round mosaic works incorporate tiles, glass, mirrors, paint, and collage.

Each artwork expresses my creative energy that is released from my soul. My ideas and subject matter are influenced through color and nature, especially being a Colorado native. The symbol of the hand signifies the physical release of my creative energy, while also acting as a unifying human symbol. It is through the hand that the artist speaks. For the soul to live fully, it must create, feel, and express the energy it holds. My artwork is my release and the unique movement of my spirit.
